Recent figures released by the U.S. Census Bureau suggest Texas is ideal for real estate development and home construction. The results were furthermore supported by the chief economist of the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University Mark Dotzour, who stated that while many parts of the country have not yet fully recovered from the housing crisis and recession, single-family home building and home sales rebounded dramatically in 2012, and are expected to gain more this year.
Here are some of the reasons why Texas continues to be among the states with the most thriving real estate markets:
- Low tax – Texas is one of the only few states in the country where residents do not have to pay personal state income taxes.
- Family friendly – Texas has been very popular with young families because of its good-value housing. Also, Texas is known for good schools, family-friendly restaurants, and down-to-earth people.
- Homes – Home construction in Texas is very ideal due to cheaper cost of land and efficient process of getting a building permit. This flexibility provided the state protection from the recent housing market crash in 2006 and 2007.
