Economists expect Dallas housing market to be calmer this year

Economists believe Dallas-Fort Worth home sales and prices will still continue to rise in 2014, although the increase will not be as rapid as in 2013, an online report published by Dallas News Business Thursday, January 2, stated.

Experts said the increase in the number of houses available in the market and the rising cost of home financing would prevent house prices from going up too rapidly. They also believe the rise in home construction activity around the state contributed significantly to the growing inventory of available houses to buy.

In an interview, National Association of Home Builders chief economist David Crowe said home construction in the country is forecasted to grow by 30% this year.
